Empowering Dreams: The Peculiar Patch Learning Academy Foundation

Welcome to The Peculiar Patch Learning Academy Foundation, where we believe in the transformative power of education and the strength of community support.

Foundation's Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide financial support to The Peculiar Patch Learning Academy so that they may carry out their mission of providing affordable, high quality, specialty childcare to children with identified disabilities alongside their typical developing peers in an inclusive early childhood environment.

Our foundation is dedicated to making quality education accessible to all families by providing vital financial assistance for tuition costs at The Peculiar Patch Learning Academy. But our mission goes beyond just financial aid; we also lend a helping hand with operational expenses, foster community outreach initiatives, and facilitate invaluable parent and sibling support groups. Together, we're building a brighter future for every child and family we serve.

Talisha Whitehead, FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

About the Founder

A native of New Bern, NC, brings over 21 years of experience in the childcare and healthcare fields. As a mother of four, including two children with exceptional needs, she has a deep understanding of the challenges in finding childcare centers that are well-equipped to meet diverse needs.

Her Educational Background Includes:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies

  • Special Education
  • Social Science (study of human society and social relationships)
  • Natural Science (focus on Biology, Neuroscience, and Genetics)

These experiences have inspired her to develop an inclusive early childhood program. Talisha’s vision of a facility that serves both typically developing children and those with identified disabilities aims to bridge the gap in quality care for all children in early childcare settings.
